  5. I’ve just learned of My dear beloved televised Pastor. I am in shock, disbelief even in the knowing that he is in a better place. I have truly loved and respected such a wonderful Sgt. in Gods Army. I will truly miss him dearly the sweet sound of his voice I know will continue to reighn in my heart for I too became more faithful to this great move of our Lord in the past 15 years under the sound of his voice and his anointing. I will miss him until I see he not as he was but as he is. With the greatest of sympathy Love Marilyn Bozeman and also Wanda Ponder

  6. My prayers are with the family of Bishop G. E. Patterson as well as the Temple of Deliverance C.O.G.I.C. Family. I know what it is like to say farewell to a Pastor/Father in Ministry. Exactly four years ago this month, my pastor at that time, went home to be with the Lord. It was definitely a trying time. Nevertheless, knowing what the Word of God says about the death of a child of God and holding fast to the teaching of my pastor, it helped me to deal with his death better. Even in our sadness, we were able to rejoice and celebrate his life. Yes, there will be moments when you will cry and feel sad, but there will be times when you will praise, shout, dance, etc. because the victory has been won. Bishop is not suffering anymore; he is in the presence of the Lord. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Patterson Family and COGIC Family, I say, “Go Forth; hold fast to the teachings and legacy of this great man of God”. You will make it and each day your burden will get a little lighter as time goes on.

    Sincerely & Prayerfully,
    Minister Russell Witcher
    Graham, NC

Rejoice Bishop will surely be entering the PEARLY GATES for sure because he really did a great job for the Lord while he was here. May God Bless the family with strength.

  8. MAY THE LORD BLESS YOU; BISHOP IS AT PEACE NOW RESTING IN THE ARMS OF THE MOST HIGH GOD. FAMILY CONTIUNE IN THE WORK THAT BISHOP STARTED; AND NEVER COME DOWN OFF THE WALL, BECAUSE WE HAVE A WORK TO DO IN THE LORD. MAY THE LORD JESUS CHRIST KEEP YOU AND BLESS YOU ALWAYS!

  12. To the entire Templ of Deliverance Family. I would like to express my deepest heart felt sympathy. I was truly saddened to hear of the passing of such a great leader that was indeed called by God. I grew up in the C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Elder David B. Williams at C. H. Mason Memorial C.O.G.I.C. in Norfolk, Virginia and I remember attending the holy convocations as a 11 year old little girl. I will always remember the profound sermons that G.E. preached. I am now living in California and I attend West Angeles C.O.G.I.C. under the devine leadership of another great man of God.Bishop Charles E. Blake. A man that was truly led by the best. He will be greatly missed. Heaven’s gates have truly opened.

  13. To the family of Bishop G.E. Patterson, I extend my deepest condolences during your time of bereavement. Bishop was nearly old enough to be my grandfather, yet he had the ability to reach my generation…..this is what I loved most about him. It is my pleasure to acknowledge the impact he had on my life and I am also thankful to have had access to his many messages.

  14. Bishop G.E. Patterson (In Memorial)

Where are you going in such a hurry?
You’ve already missed most of the game,
Step aside my brother cause it’s not basketball,
Bishop G.E. Patterson is his name.

Gathering my stuff while checking my watch,
Later gators, down the steps, boom, out the door,
Finally realized I couldn’t make it safely in 20 minutes,
Well, that’s OK because he comes on again at four.

Reading the paper 3/22/2007 something caught my eye,
A section of the Cleveland Plain Dealer I usually glance bye,
G.E. Patterson, head of Church of God in Christ,
On Tuesday the old nemesis heart failure claimed his life.

A family tradition by a list of who’s who, he earnestly carried on,
Not just in the pulpit, soulfully felt when belting out a religious song,
Forty years in service to Christ Jesus, was really not that long,
Like the mighty wings of eagles his preaching was graceful yet strong.

Bountiful Blessings, not the magazine, but those he gave,
With spirit filled sermons, countless souls were saved,
A Stellar Gospel Award, was there anything he couldn’t do?
Received in January for “Singing The Old Time Way Volume 2.”

The year 1957 in the Motown city of Hitsville, AKA Detroit,
Ordained as a church elder our Heavenly Father did anoint,
Be strong Mrs. Louise Patterson, his loving wife of 35 years,
For your lovely face is not the only one adorned with tears.

Let that water of sadness last no more than one or two days,
At Calvary Jesus bore our griefs as He took that stress away,
This is way to early; your husband had so much left in his store,
Believe & understand our Savior is now providing him with more.

Well, actually not always, I can see it going something like this,
No, no, no Jesus, let me show You again, preaching is not hit or miss,
Not just Ohio to Tennessee but encompassing the whole wide world,
Truly will you be a missed one Bishop Patterson, Gilbert Earl.

  44. I would just simply like to say that I pray the peace of God over the Patterson Family. It is nothing like loosing the Sheperd of your home. Bishop was a sheperd to a mass congregation and a Sheperd of his own home. I pray for the nights that his family have to endure the pain of him not being there. I pray that his legacy causes the Body of Christ to see about the widows and orphans, the imprisoned, also feed the hungry, and give drink both naturally and spiritual to the thristy souls.
Being a granddaughter of the late Bishop Robert Lewis out of the Church of God in Christ and also loosing the sheperd of my heart (my father). I pray that you please cover this Patterson family in pray. I have had to seat some nights and just hear the heart of my mother scream uncontrollably. Because my father walked out the ministry of Sheperd in her life.
My prayer Father God in the matchless name of Jesus the Christ. I ask that you send your spirit to the Patterson family. You are God and your works are excellence. I make intercession for the Patterson Family at this time. I pray for the congregation that has been left behind. God give them the courage to do everything decent and in order. God give them the ability to effectively continue carrying the vision for your Kingdom. You are ABBA father and you do all things well. Thank you for everything. Thank you for life and death because you created it all and those the seek you have a hope in you dear Jesus. I thank that we don’t mourn as if we don’t have hope. I give you praise and honor.

  73. Greetings and Praise the LORD. To all who mourn and at the same time celebrate the life of a man who in my eyes will always be a legacy. I grew up in the East Distric COGIC but never had the opportunity to meet this most incredible man of God. I have to be honest in saying that I have been out of the church for over three (3) years but even with the age difference when I was able to catch one of the broadcasts of Bishop preaching it always inspired, encouraged and motivated me to do better. In my heart I know that this man challenged, changed and left a charge to all who struggle to do right in the eyes of the Lord. I am greatful to God to have had this man minister to my heart and soul. I am greatful to God to have lent us His vessel for such a time as this… As I extend my deepest sympathy to the family, friends and all whose life was changed by what God did through his life…be encouraged in the Lord for even though he is not here in body remember to let his spirit, integrity and steadfastness continue to remain in your heart as well as your walk. Remember to reflect and tell that someone who is special to you how you feel while they still have breath in their body. One more soldier gone home I pray that those who remain step up to the plate you never know whose life you might touch as did Bishop G. E. Patterson has mine. Folks in my closing another good one gone, but never shall he be forgotten. My love to Mrs. Patterson and family. To God be the GLORY forever. Amen

  77. Mother Patterson, family, and church family: It seems like yesterday that I lost my mother-Mother Edna Evans and aunt-Evangelist Mabel Smith, therefore I feel your loss wholeheartedly. This void of our great Bishop will forever leave voids in the hearts of the Saints. We love you Mother Patterson and constantly pray that God will sustain you when you need it most. I remember the words of our Bishop, when he wanted to give up the helm to be with you and take to places together. Although he may not have done all he wanted to do, I know that your love will continue to be a monumental one and I pray that after the spiritual healing, that you will go somewhere and rest, cry, pray, meditate, get angry, release the anger, rejoice alone, get renewed strength and be ready to forge ahead. I love you and I admire you. Continue to allow God to use you mightly. Your sister in Christ, Evangelist Joan E. Walden, Rescue TEmple COGIC, Greensboro, NC, pastor Supt. Charles W. McMurry, Bishop LeRoy Woolard, State Prelate, and Mother Mary Greene, Jurisdictional Supervisor.

  82. My prayers are with First Lady Patterson and Family, Local, National COCIC family, and those of us who are a part of Bishop’s TV church family. We shall all miss this wonderful man of the Most High God. I can only thank God for cable TV that allowed me to be blessed every Sunday morning. Before I left for Sunday School, Bishop had already fed my soul here in Columbus, Ohio. Be blessed and know that we are in constant prayer with you during this difficult time.

  83. My heartfelt sympathy to the family of Bishop Patterson. I was shocked at his death. It is because of his sunday morning sermons and his stedfast faith that my life has changed. I looked forward to his sermons, and felt as if I knew him personally. Two years ago, I was in Memphis and I went by to see the outside of his church and was amazed at what the Bishop and his following had accomplished. I want the world and his family to know that this Man of God has truly touched and saved alot of Souls that even he did not realize. I thank God for bringing his sermons to me every Sunday Morning, and I trust that they will continue as long as possible. Rest in Peace, Your work on earth is done and your reward that you so often preach about is waiting for you. God Bless the family, Barbara Ann Middlebrooks, Lorain Ohio

  92. Bishop Patterson is a respected Minister amongst the Youth of my Parish in Nigeria. We appreciate the gift of God upon his life. He ministered the word undilluted, and in a way that it is appealing to Unbelievers and believers alike. We are proud to call him our Spiritual father and we shall miss him greatly. It is Our desire that God will select the next Leader for the COGIC family and for His family, the fortitude/grace to bear the loss
